Disney Wish Overview

For Spring Break this year, my family and I booked a 4 night cruise aboard the Disney Wish from Port Canaveral to Disney’s two private islands: Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point and Castaway Cay.

The Disney Wish, first sailing in 2022, is the first Disney Cruise Line ship in its class. Now, its sister ships the Treasure and Destiny also have joined the DCL fleet.

With a focus on Disney princesses and royalty, the Disney Wish is a ship that celebrates the iconic and classic storybook feelings evoked by the brand’s name.

When first entering the ship, guests enter into the Grand Hall, a three-story showstopper paying homage to Cinderella. With Cinderella’s statue as the focal point alongside an amazing chandelier, your eyes are drawn to the deep royal blues and sparkling golds. You might even be lucky enough to be greeted by a princess herself as you come aboard!

The details in the Grand Hall make this ship feel like a floating castle at sea!

The Wish features three unique dining experiences that all guests will enjoy over the course of their cruise: Worlds of Marvel, 1923 (a California-style steakhouse inspired by Walt and Roy Disney, the formation of the company, and Disney animation), and Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure, unique only to the Wish. Guests can also enjoy quick eats at Mickey’s Festival of Foods or more buffet-style fare at Marceline Market.

Shows aboard the Wish include Disney Seas the Adventure, Aladdin, and The Little Mermaid, alongside other amazing performances such as Set Sail on a Wish, Mickey and Minnie’s Pirates in the Caribbean, and Pirate’s Rockin’ Parlay Party featuring fireworks at sea.

The Disney Wish currently makes 3 and 4 night sailings to the Bahamas featuring ports such as Nassau alongside Lookout Cay and Castaway Cay. In the summer of 2027, it will be making its journey across the Atlantic for European sailings.

Our Experience- Embarkation

We were so excited to find a great last minute deal and jumped on the chance to go on the Wish for Spring Break! We previously sailed on the Treasure during Fall Break 2025 and had an amazing time, so we knew we wanted to snag a voyage on this ship.

We were originally were booked in an oceanview room, but upgraded at the port (more on this in another post!) to a Navigator’s Verandah. On the Wish class ships, this means something different than the original ships. Our verandah had a slight obstruction, but it was barely enough to mention and certainly worth the money it saved us in comparison to a regular verandah!

Our stateroom was themed after Princess and the Frog! The blue couch turned into a bed and a bunk from the ceiling was converted each night to a bed by our stateroom host to make bunk beds for the boys.

Upon boarding, our family’s name was announced and we opted for the table service lunch option in Arendelle on Deck 5 instead of heading up to Deck 11 for Marceline Market or Mickey’s Festival of Foods. We had some carry-on luggage with us and didn’t want to lug it around the ship, so we chose to enjoy a seated service with the special embarkation lunch menu. I had a muffaletta sandwich and it was absolutely delicious!

After eating, our stateroom was ready! We were on deck 9 aft starboard in room 9672. This was an awesome room location! We decorated our door, got organized, went to muster drill, attended the Sailaway Party (can’t miss this one!) and went to Oceaneer Club open house hours to get the boys registered before heading to Seas the Adventure and Arendelle for dinner!

Sailaway Party Pro Tip- Head up right after the muster drill and grab a spot on Deck 12 overlooking the main deck. This got our kids a perfectly unobstructed view!

Day at Sea and Ship-Based Fun

On Disney Cruise Line, one of my absolute favorite days is a Day at Sea! There is just so much to do and explore. Throughout our sea day and back aboard the ship after our private island days, we enjoyed Bingo (one of our favorite DCL activities), family crafts, movies on Funnel Vision, rides on the AquaMouse, swims in the pools, character meet and greets, dance parties, trivia, shopping, visits to the paid lounges and restaurants on the ship such as Hyperspace Lounge and Joyful Sweets, and lots of coffee runs to Cove Cafe and Wishing Star Cafe.

There is definitely no shortage of things to do on the ship! The boys also really enjoyed Oceaneer Club (for kids ages 3-10) this cruise and asked to go at least once a day. On one of their visits, they participated in a cake decorating challenge where they decorated real Disney cakes and learned strategies for decorating with fondant, mixing colors, and creating designs all while hanging out with and being judged by Donald Duck himself!

We are slowly upgrading our door decorating game on each cruise. The duck mailbox was a big hit this time for the boys and for the surrounding staterooms!

We also loved the shows aboard the Wish. Seas the Adventure is truly a family favorite that we look forward to each and every cruise we take on Wish class ships. We had second row seats for Aladdin, which really immersed us into the show and created an amazing experience for the boys!

Obviously another amazing part of a Disney Cruise (or any cruise!) is relaxing in your stateroom. On DCL, all room service is included. We took advantage of this and ordered Mickey Bars, warm chocolate chip cookies, chicken tenders and fries, and chocolate cake to the stateroom several times over the course of the sailing while hanging out and watching movies in bed or enjoying the ocean view on the verandah.

You never know who might surprise you at your table!

Finally, just a quick note of celebration for the rotational dining experiences. Worlds of Marvel is a family favorite of ours as we are currently working our way through the MCU and are loving every minute of it. The chicken schnitzel on this menu is something I look forward to each time! Arendelle’s dinner show was so entertaining and I believe I enjoyed Arendelle better than Plaza de Coco, the Treasure’s counterpart in the same ship location. 1923 is always top notch and the filet mignon never misses!

Private Island Days

I have so much to share about Disney’s private islands that I will most certainly need another series of posts to give you all the info!

Rush Out Gush Out Water Play area is directly off the beach and right beside a smoothie stand. This was a perfect change of pace from the beach and ocean for a mid-day break!

We visited both islands on this sailing: Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point and Castaway Cay. Lookout is the newest private destination for DCL. It is located on the Bahamian island of Eleuthera and is truly a dream beach destination. With lots of amazing sea life, coral reef development, and Junkanoo Bahamian culture, it is obvious that Disney thought hard about conservation and culture when developing this destination. We disembarked a little later for this day and only spent a few hours on the island, but had an amazing time in the crystal-clear waters of the ocean. My six year old particularly loved the water park section of this island!

Disney’s Castaway Cay is a classic for a reason. It is truly the most relaxed and iconic beach stay I’ve ever had. We were lucky enough to be able to snag a private cabana reservation for our Castaway Day. I will go into all of the details in another post, but just know that I think the cabanas 100% live up to the hype! Our day at Castaway will be one of my all-time favorite memories of the trip.

I will share more about the Sandcastle Cabanas later, but this was truly the highlight of our trip!

Is the Disney Wish Right for You?

I think the Disney Wish is a great ship and is a perfect choice for several different types of travelers.

First, if you are new to cruising or new to Disney Cruise Line, this is an amazing introductory sailing. With only 3 and 4 night itineraries, you can test out cruising to see if it something you’d enjoy.

Disney’s Aladdin is such a fun show with lots of awesome special effects.

Additionally, the ports of call are very approachable for newbies, particularly the private islands. It is literally a breeze to get on and off the ship in port at these destinations, making for a much easier first time cruise than a cruise that might have tender ports, etc.

Because of the length of the cruise, these sailings are cheaper than sailings on the sister ships the Treasure (7 night sailings) and the Destiny (usually 4 and 5 night sailings). This is always a perk!

The Disney Wish is also the ship for princess-loving guests! If you or someone in your travel party loves Cinderella, Frozen, or The Little Mermaid, you can’t beat this ship!

Hyperspace Lounge was a lounge space themed after Star Wars that we really enjoyed on this sailing!

Finally, the Wish is the perfect ship for families and guests hoping to plan a land and sea vacation. With departures from Port Canaveral, the Wish pairs perfectly with a few days’ stay at Walt Disney World, Universal, or another Orlando destination. Land and sea trips are some of my favorite trips to plan!

Overall, we had an amazing voyage aboard the Disney Wish and I would strongly recommend it to many of my clients!
